Lifetime has given the greenlight to “Un-Break My Heart,” an original movie based on singer Toni Braxton’s memoir.

The authorized film will follow Braxton’s ups and downs through severe chronic illness, financial troubles and divorce while navigating her son’s autism and family struggles.

Braxton will executive produce and appear in the film, which is set to begin production later this year. “Un-Break My Heart” will also be executive produced by Craig Baumgarten, Erik Kritzer and Marcus Grant, and hails from Link Entertainment. The script was penned by Susan McMartin, with Vondie Curtis-Hall set to direct.

Lifetime has created plenty of buzz (but only moderate ratings) with “unauthorized” behind-the-scenes movies based on retro TV series including “Saved By the Bell” and “Full House,” with “The Unauthorized Beverly Hills 90210 Story” and “The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story” set to air in October. A movie about Charles Manson and his followers is also in the works at the cabler. Lifetime’s critically-acclaimed scripted series “UnReal” has been renewed for a second season and will return in 2016.
