Back in 2017, Mike Epps was slated to star as Richard Pryor in a biopic directed by Lee Daniels and produced by Jay Z. But so far, the project hasn’t come to fruition.
Epps posted to Instagram recently about his remaining hope for a Pryor film, including a call-out to Kenya Barris to help him make a biopic happen.
“I believe I can win [an] Oscar for the culture if I had the chance…they sleepin on us y’all,” he wrote. “@kenyabarris we need this for the people.”
Seeing how Barris is one of the biggest producers of the moment, it makes sense to call on him to help bring such a biopic to life. If Barris will heed the call remains to be seen.
