Also, I think I have seen a different version of this movie because I watched it 4 times and don’t see Etta McDaniel anywhere, but the little boy Bobby make reference to Gladiola, the previous “colored” maid multiple times. He said Gladiola had a “colored” husband who used to come in the evening and help Gladiola clean out the ice box and that’s how she got fired.
