Release date was initially set for a June 2, 2017 and was later pushed back to January 12, 2018, and has now been pushed back again, to November 9, 2018. March 7, 2017 it was announced by The Hollywood Reporter that the films director, Joe Carnahan (who was also that latest screenplay writer on this project), quit and that it was likely the films release date would be changed again. The release date for the film has now been moved off of the release schedule by Sony, but they are suppose to be working on the script. Martin Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly that he doesn’t think the film will happen. We’ll see.
More writers were added to the credits, so this project may be moving forward. Film added back to schedule. Release date January 2020. Variety says the producers have agreed on a script and filming is set to begin early 2019 with 2020 release date still standing. John West Jr., Jaies Baptiste, Sharrie McCain and Travis Thompson were in the original cast list but not in the final one. I wasn’t able to identify Damien Butler or Porshia C. Joseph. The Savanna in this film is Savanna Hope James, not LeBron’s wife, Savannah Brinson James.
